Handwritten materials related to rehearsal and performance of the play, including a scenario and 2 role books, for the parts of Johann, ein Bedienter; and Lisette, ein Bauernmädchen (the play has only these two characters). The role books bear the complete title and subtitle given above, but the scenario shows the title only as "Domestikenstreiche." An accompanying paper sleeve with a red wax seal is labeled "Fünf sind zwey." The materials likely date from before 1850. The identification of the author is tentative, since the none of the materials show the author's name, and several works exist with similar titles. A one-act comedy (Lustspiel) entitled "Domestikenstreiche" was published by Castelli in 1805, and was apparently later set to music by the composer Adalbert Gyrowetz under the title "Fünf sind zwei, oder: Domestikenstreiche." The work at hand appears to be a play with no music. It was able to be verified that the materials at hand do not correspond to the one-act farce (Posse) entitled "Domestikenstreiche" by Anton Bittner; howevever, there apparently exists another one-act comedy of this same title by Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Fleischer (1777-1831), and that work was not accessible. (The collection's holdings of theater newspapers and playbills contain no reference to this play.)
